Asel Tambay is a Turkish designer and art director at Zak Group. She studied at Central St Martins in London, completing her BA in 2018. Growing up between Adana and London, she took early inspiration from the work of artists like Ed Ruscha and Lawrence Weiner that crossed art with language. Her interest in design stems from a desire to use the practice as a vehicle to other cultural mediums, and her “no-fuss” approach to design is formed by the immediacy of text-based art. Prior to joining Zak Group, she worked directly with artists who make language-based work with a focus on typography.
She began at the office in 2018, the day after graduating. Here, she works with FACT, Museum für Moderne Kunst, Virgil Abloh, Paco Rabanne and Serpentine Galleries.
