Each year, CCA Kitakyushu organises Bridge the Gap?—an experimental conference in which leaders converge in one location to make connections across seemingly disparate fields of expertise. Our design for a book documenting the seventh and eighth editions of Bridge the Gap? brings together discussions that took place in Granada and Sri Lanka. Materially, the book refers back to elegantly bound notebooks stored in plastic sleeves, which participants were given to use at the eighth conference. The volume also employs Cinetype—a typeface once used for subtitling—to present a wealth of interviews, notes and lectures, suggesting a between-the-line reading of the possibilities of connection. Space is the Time You Need to Go to Someone Else was edited by Charles Arsène-Henry, Zak Kyes and Akiko Miyake.
