Exhibition Prosthetics

Exhibition Prosthetics is the outcome of a lecture given by the American artist Joseph Grigley at the Architectural Association, based on research questioning the material conventions through which art is represented; captions, invitations, wall texts and postcards, Joseph argues, are actually a part of the artwork. Comprised of the lecture transcript, visual documentation of Joseph’s research, as well as a Q&A with the artist, Hans Ulrich Obrist and studio partner Zak Kyes, the book makes a compelling argument for these ‘prosthetics’, essentially becoming a prosthetic in itself. A second, large-scale edition was published by Bedford Press for the New York Art Book Fair.
